Downland Eau de Parfum

Fresh, mineral and woody, Downland was inspired by the painterly landscapes of William Nicholson; in particular those of the tumbling Sussex downs, where the artist lived for many years in a former rectory near the coast.

Evoking Nicholson's sensitive eye for rolling hills, curved seashores and shifting coastal light, Downland begins with a wave of salty air and elemi, mellowing into a warm base of hay, sandalwood and vetiver. Like the well-placed shadows in Nicholson's paintings, it is a scent of subtle contrasts and hidden depths: fresh and bracing, yet almost supernal in its simplicity.
